Hyundai Debuts Locally Made Hybrid in China

Hyundai Motor Co. has introduced a locally built hybrid sedan in China that is based on its Sonata hybrid.
The 210,000-yuan ($31,900) variant, which has been tweaked for the Chinese market, is being built by Hyundai’s venture with BAIC (Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co.). The Nikkei says Hyundai plans eventually to add plug-in hybrid and all-electric models, both of which will qualify for government subsidies for “green” vehicles.
Hyundai, a relative latecomer to the eco-car market, has says it and its Kia Motors Corp. subsidiary, plans to expanded their collective lineups with a combined 28 green models by 2020.
