Hella GmbH is opening its second electronics component plant in India and its sixth facility in the country.
The new plant in Mehsana, Gujarat, is a 1 billion-rupee ($15 million) factory that initially will make accelerator pedal sensors before expanding into additional products. The 5,000 sq-meter (53,800 sq-ft) factory eventually will add 200 employees to the 1,500 already working elsewhere in India.
Hella currently produces sensors, actuators, switches and other electronic products in Dhankot. The company also makes headlamps in Derabassi and aftermarket parts in Udyog Vihar. It operates a global electronics development center in Pune and an engineering center in Chennai.
