Head of JCI’s Automotive Unit Leaves

Johnson Controls Inc. says in a regulatory filing that Beda Bolzenius, president of its automotive seating and interiors business, will leave the company by the end of March.
JCI announced last July it intended to spin off the $22 billion-per-year Automotive Experience unit later this year as an independent company led by Bruce McDonald, currently JCI’s vice chairman. JCI said at the time that Bolzenius would become president and chief operating officer of the company, which is to be called Adient.
It isn’t clear why Bolzenius is leaving the company instead. He joined JCI from Robert Bosch GmbH in 2004 and has been president of its automotive operations since 2014.
JCI also said in January it has agreed to acquire fire protection and security systems provider Tyco International plc, rename itself Johnson Controls plc and relocate its headquarters to Cork, Ireland. The company estimates the latter move will reduce its annual taxes by $150 million.
