General Motors Co. says it took less than two hours to sell out the first allotment of 400 Chevrolet Bolt electric sedans it is sending to South Korea.

GM tells Automotive News it collected nearly 2,000 orders in the first day it began accepting requests from interested buyers. The Bolt was designed in Korea and is powered with a 60-kWh battery supplied by Korean-based LG Chem.

The five-seater is government-rated in Korea with the same range as in the U.S.: 383 km (238 miles) per charge. The car starts at 47.8 million won ($43,000), but government incentives cut the transaction price to less than 30 million won ($27,000), according to AN.
