The all-electric pickup General Motors Co. is developing will be introduced in autumn 2021, CEO Mary Barra tells investors.

That’s about the same time Tesla Inc. is expected to launch its electric truck, which is due to be unveiled Thursday night. Plymouth, Mich.-based startup Rivian Automotive LLC aims to beat both companies to market with its R1T pickup by the end of 2020.

Barra describes GM’s truck as “very capable.” She provides no details, but a Reuters report last month suggested the carmaker may revive its Hummer brand in a family of electric SUVs and pickups. Those vehicles would be built at GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck plant, according to the news service.
