Confirming media reports from June, the organizers of the Formula E electric vehicle race series announced plans to hold back-to-back races in New York City next year.

The final two events of the 2016-2017 season will take place in Brooklyn next July 29 and 30. The new season starts Oct. 9 in Hong Kong. Other venues include Berlin, Mexico City, Montreal and Paris.

The proposed 1.2-mile Brooklyn course includes 13 turns with the Lower Manhattan skyline and Statue of Liberty providing a scenic backdrop during portions of the race.
