Ford Readies Electrified Models for Europe

Ford Motor Co. tells reporters it is developing a family of electrified vehicles specifically for the European market.
But the company isn’t offering specifics about the models, where they will be made or when they will debut, Automotive News Europe says.
The cars are being developed at Ford’s tech center in Cologne, Germany, according to Ford of Europe President Stuart Rowley. A source tells the online newspaper that the first of the new vehicles will reach the market in “the next couple of years.”
Ford also isn’t commenting on speculation that at least some of the electrified vehicles will ride on Volkswagen AG’s “MEB” electric-car platform as part of an expanding collaboration announced in January between the two carmakers.
At the time, Ford CEO Jim Hackett told investors that partnering on such projects would be “really important” to the future of both companies.
