Ford Motor Co. is developing two all-electric crossover models that will debut in the U.S. for the 2023 model year, sources tell Automotive News.
The midsize models will be produced at Ford’s Flat Rock factory south of Detroit and sold under the Ford and Lincoln brands. Both will ride on Ford’s new EV-specific platform.
AN says the two electric models will replace the slow-selling Lincoln Continental, which will be discontinued at the facility but could be imported from China.
Ford said in April year that it will spend $850 million over four years to convert the Flat Rock facility into an EV-making hub.
The project is part of an announced $11 billion global electrification program. The plan involves the introduction of 16 all-electric and 24 hybrid models between 2020 and 2024. But the company has revealed few specifics.
