Fisker Automotive Inc. reports it generated $100 million in revenue in the January-April period by selling about 1,000 of its $103,000 Karma plug-in hybrid sedans.
The company said last month it had lined up $392 million in fresh private financing since 2012 began. But Fisker now says it has raised $174 million so far this year. The company says it has raised more than $1 billion since its founding in 2007.
Privately held Fisker is eager to reassure investors and customers that it has enough cash to survive while it raises additional private equity funding. The company also needs financing to resume retooling former General Motors Co. plant in Wilmington, Del., to produce the upcoming Atlantic midsize hybrid.
Fisker halted work in Delaware when the U.S. Dept. of Energy froze the company's access to a $529 million loan after it missed sales and product development deadlines.
