Fisker Inc., which was formally launched last month, has released digital renderings and more details about its upcoming electric vehicle.
Dubbed the EMotion, the sedan features a sporty design with coupe-like styling. Highlights include a wedge profile, low snub-nose hood, LED headlights, deeply flared fenders, butterfly doors that open upward and a short rear deck.
Fisker touts the interior as roomier than a Tesla Model S, including “superb” rear-seat legroom. The car also is being designed to include various advanced driver assist features.
Headed by designer Henrik Fisker, the company previously has said the EV will use a new battery technology that will enable a 400-mile driving range. Fisker’s Nanotech battery division is developing the technology with researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Some media reports suggest that Auburn Hills, Mich.-based VLF Automotive—a partnership between Fisker, Bob Lutz and Gilbert Villarreal—may produce the EMotion. VLF currently assembles the Dodge Viper-based Force 1 supercar and V-8 conversions of the original Fisker Karma hybrid car.
China's Wanxiang Group purchased the rights to the Karma, which it’s relaunching as the Revero, and other assets (excluding the brand name) of the former Fisker Automotive Inc. in 2014.
