Fisker Automotive Inc., which originally planned to begin making its Atlantic extended-range hybrid sedan this summer, tells investors that production is now scheduled to begin in 2015 or late 2014.

The company declared early this month that it still plans to build the $55,000 midsize car at a former General Motors Co. factory in Wilmington, Del. Fisker says it recently resumed development of the new model.

Work on the car and the assembly plant halted in February when the U.S. Dept. of Energy froze Fisker's $529 million loan because the company missed milestones for sales and product development.

Fisker says it has delivered about 1,500 units of its first model, the $107,900 Karma plug-in roadster, since the car debuted last December.
