Fiat-Chrysler to Continue Shunning EVs
Fiat-Chrysler won't invest in hybrids or electric vehicles until consumer are willing to pay for the advanced technology, according to the alliance's global powertrain chief Bob Lee.

Fiat-Chrysler won't invest in hybrids or electric vehicles until consumer are willing to pay for the advanced technology, according to the alliance's global powertrain chief Bob Lee.
Lee tells an audience at an automotive conference in northern Michigan that it could be a decade before that happens.
For now, he says, Fiat-Chrysler will add more diesel and turbocharged gasoline engines to its North American lineup to help meet more stringent fuel economy standards. Chrysler is benefiting from being able to choose from Fiat's array of diesel engines.
The two companies currently have no hybrid propulsion system. Their sole EV is Fiat's 500e city car, which is sold only in California. The car carries the same price as the conventional piston-powered 500.
