FAW Group's joint venture with Volkswagen AG plans to build the Audi A6 e-tron a plug-in electric version of the long-wheelbase Audi A6 large sedan in China.
FAW-Volkswagen will produce the car in Changchun, but the venture didn't say when or indicate target production volumes or sales. The partners already sell several imported Audi hybrids in China, including the Q5 small crossover, A6 hybrid and A8 hybrid.
The plug-in car has a piston engine but can travel 50 km (30 miles) on electric power alone, thanks to a larger battery than a conventional A6 hybrid.
