Denso Corp. will begin producing electronic engine control units for locally built vehicles in Brazil in September, The Nikkei reports.
The newspaper, citing Denso, says the company expects to sell ECUs to parent Toyota Motor Corp. and other Japanese carmakers such as Nissan Motor Co.
The Japanese supplier aims to nearly double its sales in South America by 2015 as automakers there strive to boost local content to avoid tariffs on imported components.
