Daimler AG says it will use Valens Semiconductor Ltd.’s HDBaseT Automotive platform for future infotainment, driver-assist and telematics systems.
The carmaker joined the HDBaseT Alliance’s automotive working group earlier this year. Other members include General Motors, Delphi, Harman, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic and Samsung.
Created by Valens, HDBaseT is a distribution standard for ultra-high-definition multimedia content and in-vehicle connectivity. The architecture, which currently is used for audio visual and consumer electronics applications, features a patented version of pulse-amplitude modulation.
Valens describes its technology as the only one that enables the integration of high-speed video and audio, USB and data over an Ethernet-type single unshielded twisted-pair cable.
