China’s National Bureau of Statistics says the country’s gross domestic product expanded 6.7% in July-September, in line with forecasts and equal to the pace of the previous quarter.
But economists predict China’s full-year growth will fall short of last year’s 25-year low of 6.9%. A revived real estate boom is contributing to growth, but analysts say the pace will be sustained through the end of the year in large part by rising debt and government spending.
The bureau notes that industrial production climbed 6.1% year on year in September compared with 6.3% in August. Investment in fixed assets, including factories, rose 8.1% through the first eight months of 2016.
