BYD Opens Electric Bus Factory in Hungary
BYD Co. Ltd. opened a €20 million ($21 million) factory in in Komarom, Hungary, today with capacity to assemble 400 large and mostly electric buses.

BYD Co. Ltd. opened a €20 million ($21 million) factory in in Komarom, Hungary, today with capacity to assemble 400 large and mostly electric buses.
The factory, which occupies 66,000 sq meters (710,000 sq ft), will help supply the European market.
Shenzhen-based BYD says it will spend an equal amount to launch bus production in Allonne, France, about a year from now. That 32,000 square-meter (344,499 sq ft) facility will employ 100 workers to make 200 buses per year.
Last year BYD reported its sales of new-energy vehicles surged 70% to 100,200 units. The company is China’s largest supplier of electric buses that measure more than 10 meters (33 feet) in length.
