General Motors Co. has released a teaser image of the Buick Velite plug-in hybrid concept car ahead of the vehicle’s debut next week at the Guangzhou auto show.

The carmaker says the concept will serve as a template for several upcoming models it plans to launch under its “Buick Blue new energy” strategy in China. The lineup will include a mix of hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full electric vehicles—including a production version of this year’s LaCrosse Hybrid concept.

The Velite teams an unspecified direct-injection engine with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. GM provided no other details.

Development of the concept was led by the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center in Shanghai. The facility is an engineering and design joint venture between GM and SAIC. Buick previously used the Velite name in 2004 for a concept convertible.
