British Job Market Improves Slightly

The number of unemployed in the U.K. fell by 45,000 people to 2.63 million from the final three months of 2011 to the first quarter of this year, according to the Office for National Statistics.
The jobless rate in the first quarter fell to 8.2% from 8.4% in last year's fourth quarter.
A record 8 million people in the U.K. are working part time, up 118,000 from the October-December period. Of those employees, a record 1.4 million say they settled for jobs with shorter hours because they couldn't find a full-time job.
