BMW AG and partner Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Co. Ltd. will introduce their first electric vehicle in China under the new EV-only Zinoro brand early next year.

The companies offered no details about the vehicle except to say it will be produced at the BMW Brilliance Automotive Co. plant in Shenyang. Autocar says the vehicle, likely to be an electrified version of BMW's small X1 crossover, will be unveiled at the Guangzhou auto show in November.

The Shenyang factory already assembles the X1 and BMW brand 3 Series and 5 Series sedans.

Zinoro will sell its vehicles through an independent dealer network with no direct links to the sportier BMW brand.
