The Austrian government is offering drivers of electric vehicles free parking and access to bus lanes.

The programs also exempts EVs from speed limit restrictions imposed during periods of elevated air pollution. The rules cut speed limits for conventional vehicles to 80 kph (62 mph) from 130 kph (80 mph).

The speed limit rule affects about 440 km (273 miles) of Austrian highways. Hybrid-electrics are not included in the exemption.
