Audi AG plans to introduce 12 electric vehicles by 2025, starting with the all-new e-tron crossover early next year.

The rollout will include a wide variety of body styles covering “every relevant market segment” from compacts to fullsize models, company officials tell Carscoops. At least four platforms will be used for the vehicles.

The e-tron will be followed by a sportback variant of the crossover later next year, Carscoops reports. The vehicle is expected to be similar to the Sportback concept at the 2017 Shanghai auto show.

The e-tron and the e-tron Sportback will ride on an electrified version of Volkswagen Group’s modular longitudinal platform that also underpins the A4 and A7 cars and the Q8 SUV.

Another vehicle, the e-tron GT concept car, is due to be unveiled in November at the Los Angeles auto show. That vehicle is described as a “highly dynamic coupe” on a platform developed in collaboration with Porsche.

Audi also is working with Porsche on a the PPE (premium platform electric) that will be used for several B- through D-segment models, Carscoops says. The fourth platform will be VW’s modular electric matrix system for various A-segment cars, including one being developed for China.

VW Group plans to introduce 80 electric and hybrid models across its eight car brands, including Audi, by 2025. Audi expects one-third of its global sales to come from electrified models by that time.
