Audi AG will take the wraps off plug-in hybrid variants of its Q5 crossover and A6, A7 and A8 cars next week at the Geneva auto show.

Due later this year in Europe, the 2020 models will be marketed with “TFSI e” badging. Audi’s e-tron sub-brand is restricted to full electric vehicles.
The plug-in hybrid system will team a 3.0-liter V-6 engine and 8-speed automatic transmission with an electric motor and 14.1-kWh lithium-ion battery.
The latter provides an estimated all-electric driving range of 25 miles on Europe’s new WLTP standard, according to Audi. The batteries can be fully replenished in two hours with a standard 7.2-kW charger. A quicker and more powerful Level 3 charger is optional.
The Q5, A6 and A7 plug-ins will be available with a choice of “comfort” or “performance” packages. Performance models feature a more powerful electric motor, a sport-tuned suspension and, in the A6 and A7, sportier passenger cabins.
