Ferrari SpA will debut its new 900-hp hybrid supercar at the Detroit auto show in January, Automotive News Europe reports. The company's most power road car today is the just-introduced 740-hp F12berlinetta.

Ferrari has not revealed the name of the two-seater, but Italian media speculate it will be called the F70. The new model will replace the Enzo supercar next year.

The new car's carbon-fiber-reinforced chassis was revealed at the Paris auto show two weeks ago. Ferrari says the design is 20% lighter and delivers 27% greater torsional rigidity than the Enzo platform.

Ferrari says the chassis uses four types of carbon fiber and will be hand laminated. The company says standard manufacturing techniques, such as resin transfer molding, could not meet the quality and performance standards set.

The new car's powertrain will consist of the company's latest naturally aspirated V-12 gasoline engine, an electric motor and lithium-ion battery assembled from cells supplied by South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd, according to ANE. The online newspaper says the hybrid system, including power control module, weighs about 150 kg (331 lbs).

The car will feature a kinetic energy recovery system inspired by the KERS system used in Ferrari's Formula One race cars. Ferrari told ANE in April that the technology, dubbed HY-KERS, would improve acceleration and boost fuel efficiency about 40%.
