While we wrote about Local Motors in the entry below earlier today, we were just advised by the company that another one of its competitions—this one held in cooperation with the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)—resulted in a vehicle that was shown to President Obama this morning when he visited Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

The Experimental Crowd-derived Compact support-vehicle (XC2V) design competition, closed on March 3, and by June 24, the president saw this:

It was completed, according to Local Motors, a week ahead of schedule.  (Imagine: a government project done early.)
