Electric vehicle maker ZAP Jonway USA has hired Charles Schillings, a veteran of telecommunications and semiconductor companies, as chief operating officer to oversee its U.S. and international operations.

Electric vehicle maker ZAP Jonway USA has hired Charles Schillings, a veteran of telecommunications and semiconductor companies, as chief operating officer to oversee its U.S. and international operations.

Schillings was previously CEO of semiconductor industry supplier Strasbaugh from 2007, following stints in marketing and sales in Asia for the company. He remains on Strasbaugh's board.

Santa Rosa, Calif.-based ZAP Jonway disclosed last week that co-CEO Steve Schneider had left the company.
