Electric vehicle maker Zap Jonway USA says Steve Schneider is "no longer" the company's co-CEO. The Santa Rosa, Calif.-based company's vaguely worded statement does not say whether Schneider, who led U.S. operations, left the company or why he stepped down.
ZAP says co-CEO Alex Wang, who has been responsible for the company's operations in China, will take over Schneider's duties on an interim basis. ZAP also is searching for an industry advisor to help with the global launch of the electric version of the company's A380 SUV later this year.
ZAP acquired a 51% stake in Zhejiang Jonway Automobile Co. last year and changed its name to ZAP Jonway. The company's vehicles are produced by Jonway Automobile in China.
