Volkswagen AG confirms it has approved an all-electric SUV that will go into production about five years from now.
Klaus Bischoff, who heads design for the VW brand, tells Automotive News Europe that the vehicle will be unveiled in concept form at the Shanghai auto show in April.
The vehicle will ride on VW’s “MEB” platform. The same chassis carries the all-electric I.D. Buzz microbus concept the company is unveiling today at the Detroit auto show. Bischoff tells ANE a decision to build the Buzz will depend in large part on the car’s reception when the show opens to the public on Saturday.
