Volkswagen AG will take the wraps off a new concept electric vehicle, dubbed the ID Roomzz, later this month at the Shanghai auto show.

The carmaker plans to launch a production version of the vehicle, which previous reports described as the ID Lounge, in China in 2021. Availability in other markets is expected to follow soon thereafter.

As with other planned ID models, the Roomzz (above) will be based on VW’s modular MEB architecture for electric vehicles. The new model is expected to be about the same size as the ID Buzz microbus and share styling cues with the smaller Crozz crossover.

The Roomzz concept will feature Level 4 autonomous driving capability, reconfigurable seating and customizable lighting, according to the carmaker.

VW’s first ID-badged model, an unnamed hatchback, is due in 2020. In addition to the Buzz and Crozz, the seven-member ID family also includes the Vizzion sedan, Buggy dune buggy and a cargo van variant of the Buzz.
