Violent protests involving auto suppliers in India killed one person and injured dozens more over the weekend, according to Kyodo News.
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. says the disruptions cut supplies of key components and prompted the company to halt operations at its assembly plants in Gurgaon and Manesar. The factories normally produce a combined 5,000 vehicles per day.
Reports say demonstrations in the largely agrarian Rohtak district of northern India centered around access to jobs and educational opportunities.
