The U.S. added 313,000 jobs in February, the biggest monthly number since July 2016, according to the Dept. of Labor.
Unemployment remained unchanged at 4.1% for the fifth consecutive month. The Labor Dept. also revised job gain data for December and January by a combined 54,000 positions to hike the country’s average month growth to 242,000 jobs over the past three months.
Hourly wages rose by a tiny 0.2% in February. But that was enough to elevate compensation to 2.6% for the month compared with an inflation rate of 2.1%.
