The average price of gasoline in the U.S. starts the week at $2.70, eight cents lower than a week ago and $1 below the peak price reached on April 28, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

AAA says the lower prices mean drivers in America are spending at least $200 million less per day than they were at this time last year.
