Average gasoline prices in the U.S. continue to rise, buoyed by rising demand and falling stocks. Experts predict more of the same till mid-year.

Auto insurer AAA says the national average is at $2.45 per gallon, up from $2.28 a month ago. The average was at $2.53 at this time a year ago.

Some analysts say gasoline could reach $3 per gallon by the time the summer peak driving season arrives. Prices last year topped out at $2.98 per gallon in May.
