Per-gallon price averages by state currently range from $1.36 (Oklahoma) to $2.62 Hawaii). The national average was at $1.97 a month ago and $2.21 one year ago. It’s now been below $2 per gallon for more than three weeks.
AAA notes that fuel prices usually begin to rise in late February as spring approaches and miles driven increases. But with supplies of domestic crude at an eight-decade high, AAA says prices are likely to remain low for weeks to come.
