The average fuel economy of new light vehicles sold in the U.S. in August reached 25.4 mpg, an increase of 2.4% from August 2013 and an impressive 21.4% from fourth quarter 2007.

The average fuel economy of new light vehicles sold in the U.S. in August reached 25.4 mpg, an increase of 2.4% from August 2013 and an impressive 21.4% from fourth quarter 2007. Mitsubishi Motors Corp. continued as the highest scoring automaker (absent Tesla Motors Inc.) while the new i8 helped improve BMW AG's overall fuel efficiency. (WardsAuto)
