Consumers are now able to determine if their vehicles are part of the expanded recalls to replace Takata Corp. airbag inflators that could explode when triggered in a crash.

Eleven car and truck manufacturers are replacing as many as 34 million inflators under multiple recalls. Some campaigns involve both the driver's and passenger's frontal airbag systems. Others will replace inflators installed under a previous recall. Reuters has estimated the campaigns involve about 17.6 million vehicles.

Owners can check eligibility by submitting the vehicle identification number of their vehicle to NHTSA's safercar.gov Web site.
