Ferrari SpA is recalling about 2,400 of its 2015 model supercars worldwide to replace driver-side airbag modules made by Takata Corp., the Financial Times reports.
The campaign is not related to recalls by 11 other manufacturers to replace more than 40 million Takata airbag inflators that could explode when activated.
In Ferrari's case, Takata incorrectly assembled the airbag module such that the airbag itself may not inflate with the correct orientation. The carmaker says Takata reported the flaw last month.
The recall covers select models of Ferrari's 458 Italia, Spider and Speciale, California T, FF, F12 Berlinetta and LaFerrari cars. Affected models, which represent about one-third of Ferrari's annual output, were made between December 2014 and April 2015.
