Truck Sales in Europe Continue to Rise

Deliveries of new commercial vehicles across Europe rose 2% to 193,000 trucks in July and 7% to 170,000 units in August, industry group ACEA reports.
Sales through the first eight months of 2018 rose 5% to 1.69 million units. Among the region’s largest national markets, growth in January-August was strongest in France (+6% to 340,800 units) and Spain (+10% to 165,500). Sales shrank 3% to 257,400 vehicles in the U.K.
ACEA says July sales climbed in France (+8% to 39,700 units), Germany (+1% to 30,000) and Spain (+5% to 21,300). Volume in July fell in the U.K. (-6% to 27,600 trucks) and Italy (-2% to 16,900).
The pace of growth accelerated in August, led by Germany (+12% to 33,500 units), France (+13% to 30,100) and Spain (+18% to 17,100). August deliveries advanced 2% to 19,500 units in the U.K. and 2% to 11,100 units in Italy, according to ACEA.
