Toyota Motor Corp. has begun shipping Indonesian-made Vios small sedans to nine countries in the Middle East for the first time.
The cars are marketed under the Yaris brand in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Lebanon and Yemen.
Toyota Indonesia initially is exporting 1,000 cars per month to the region but expects to triple that rate later this year. The program will hike the company's total annual export volume 30% to 153,400 units by 2015.
