Toyota Motor Corp. aims to boost hybrid-car sales in China to 30% of its overall volume there by 2020, The Nikkei reports.

Hiroji Onishi, who heads Toyota operations in China, notes the company will begin assembling hybrids in China this autumn.

The company has imported Prius hybrid sedans into China since 2005 and a hybridized version of its Camry sedan since 2010. But sales of both models in the country have so far totaled only 90,000 units, according to The Nikkei.
