Toyota Motor Corp. is giving its Tacoma midsize pickup truck a mid-cycle makeover that includes trim-dependent styling tweaks, new tech features and an updated interior.
The carmaker unveiled the 2020 model at this week’s Chicago auto show. Six trim levels are available: SR, SR5, Limited, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road and TRD Pro.
Among the available styling changes are a revised grille, updated headlights and taillights and larger alloy wheels. Interior highlights include an improved infotainment system (with either a 7- or 8-inch display) smartphone integration, optional JBL audio unit and power adjustable seats—a first for the Tacoma.
The standard Safety Sense package bundles pre-collision braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with sway warning system, automatic high beams and adaptive cruise control. Keyless entry and other features are optional.
A new panoramic view monitor comes standard on the Limited trim, providing a bird's-eye view to improve maneuvering in tight spaces. TRD variants also get a multi-terrain undercarriage monitor to enhance off-road driving, plus specially tuned Bilstein shocks, a locking rear differential, hill assist and crawl control.
The Tacoma’s last full redesign was in 2015. The vehicle has been the top selling midsize pickup in the U.S. for 14 straight years.RELATED CONTENT
