2021 Chevy Tahoe gets a 5-0 version

“Tahoe is the most aspirational vehicle in the law enforcement industry. By listening to the needs of officers from around the country, we have built the best Tahoe ever,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, GM Fleet.
He’s referring to the forthcoming 2021 Tahoe PPV—that’s “Police Pursuit Vehicle.”

Fast: The PPV is powered by a 5.3-liter V8 that produces 355 hp @ 5600 rpm and 383 lb-ft of torque @ 4100 rpm.
Performance bonus: The engine features high-performance rocker covers from the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 LT4 engine. Why? They improve crankcase ventilation so the vehicle can handle high lateral conditions during some spirited driving.
Geared: The PPV has a 10-speed automatic. Transmission fluid and engine oil are cooled by dedicated, heavy-duty cooling systems engineered for law enforcement applications.
Amped: A 760-amp auxiliary battery allows accessories to operate without running the engine. A high-output alternator is 47% more powerful than the one in the 2020 version.
Stopping: Features a heavy-duty system with Brembo six-piston aluminum monoblock calipers on 16-inch rotors. Compared to the 2020 PPV Tahoe, stopping distance is reduced by 11 feet during a 62 mph to 0 mph stop on dry surfaces.
Chassis: Unique tuning, monotube dampers, coil springs and stabilizer bars.
Tires: Firestone Firehawk Pursuit tires developed with Bridgestone. Tested at race tracks. Contribute to the stopping power.
Seated: Designed with additional hip room to help accommodate...utility belts.
“Get In the Back”: The rear door openings are 3.5 inches wider (13%) to help load cuffed passengers.
Space for stuff: 70.3 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the second row.
Tech: Standard HD rear camera and rear park assist. Available 4G LTE WiFi.
Upfit advantage: The electrical architecture is designed to simplify upfitting. The standard blunt-cut wire harness has 31 wire circuits to the cockpit, 56 wire circuits to the cargo area, and 25 shared circuits to connect aftermarket gear without requiring removal of major panes or components.
The good news for all of the speeders taking advantage of the clearer roadways: vehicle availability isn’t until 2021.

Mustang Changes for 2018
On Tuesday Ford unveiled—using the social media channels of actor Dwayne Johnson (this has got to unnerve some of the auto buff book editors)—the 2018 Mustang, which has undergone some modifications: under the hood (the 3.7-liter V6 is giving way to a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four, and a 10-speed automatic is available), on the dash (a 12-inch, all-digital LCD screen is available for the dashboard), at the tires (12 wheel choices), on the chassis (MagneRide damper technology is being offered with the Mustang Performance Package), and on the exterior (three new paint colors). And while on the subject of the exterior, there are some notable changes—a lower, remodeled hood, repositioned hood vents, new upper and lower front grilles, LED front lights, revised LED taillamps, new rear bumper and fascia.
