California-based Tesla Motors Inc. says it plans to open more than 30 new outlets in Europe to sell its Model S electric sedan.
The company, which sold 22,500 cars worldwide in 2013, already distributes its cars in Belgium, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland.
Tesla also says it will introduce a version of the Model S with right-hand drive for the British market. By the end of 2014, it expects combined demand in Europe and Asia to surpass sales in the U.S.
Earlier this year Tesla said it would expand its network of high-power Supercharger stations in Europe from 14 today. The charging facilities, which are free for Model S owners, can restore half the car's battery capacity in about 20 minutes.
