Tesla Motors Inc. is updating its Model S electric sedans with programs that alert drivers when they're about to stray too far from a charging station and help plan road trips that include strategic charging stops.
CEO Elon Musk says the update will make it nearly impossible for drivers to run out of battery power unintentionally.
Musk says the software update will be distributed to customers wirelessly at the end of March. He says Tesla plans to update software in its cars at least four times per year.
