Tesla Inc. has produced more than 100,000 of its Model 3 electric sedans since the car went into production last year, Bloomberg News estimates.
The Model 3’s sales pace now exceeds the combined volume of all other pure-electric cars offered in the U.S. Bloomberg says the car also ranks as the fifth-best-selling sedan of any kind, behind only the Toyota Corolla, Toyota Camry, Honda Civic and Honda Accord.
The high volume is good news for Tesla, which has struggled for months to overcome production problems. But the company says it also means that Model 3 buyers must place their orders by Oct. 15 to ensure their purchase will qualify for a full $7,500 federal tax credit.
The credit is available for the first 200,000 EVs sold by a given manufacturer. When sales reach that number, the incentive drops to $3,750 for a year and then disappears.
Tesla also has produced 100,000 of its Model S and Model X electrics. Bloomberg estimates that Tesla will build another 100,000 Model 3s within another six months.

Chevy Develops eCOPO Camaro: The Fast and the Electric
The notion that electric vehicles were the sort of thing that well-meaning professors who wear tweed jackets with elbow patches drove in order to help save the environment was pretty much annihilated when Tesla added the Ludicrous+ mode to the Model S which propelled the vehicle from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds.
