Tesla Inc. has asked workers who are building its electric Model S sedans and Model X crossovers to help raise the output of the company’s new Model 3 EV, Bloomberg News reports.

Two internal memos circulated last week by engineering chief Doug Field seek volunteers to prove the company’s “haters” wrong by upping Model 3 output to 300 units per day from about 250 currently.

Bloomberg says Tesla suspended production of its other two models yesterday because volumes for those vehicles are ahead of first-quarter targets.

The volunteer scheme comes as skeptics cast doubt on Tesla’s ability to meet its aggressive production targets for the Model 3. The company had predicted it would be churning out 2,500 of the $35,000 cars per week by now.

Analysts consider Tesla’s ability to reach mass production for the frequently delayed Model 3 is critical in proving the company’s ability to generate sustainable profits. Field’s memo to workers says he finds the attitude of doubters “personally insulting” and adds “you should too.”
