At least six lawsuits seeking class-action status have been filed in the U.S. over the past two weeks against airbag maker Takata Corp. All claim plaintiffs should be compensated for lost value of their vehicles due to recalls involving faulty Takata airbag inflators.
Attorneys representing several of the cases are asking that all the complaints be combined into one federal class-action lawsuit in Miami. Defendants named in addition to Takata include Ford, Honda, Nissan and Toyota.
The Washington, D.C.-based Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation has agreed to hold a hearing in Miami on Jan. 29 about the proposal.
