Suzuki Unveils 78-mpg Car

Suzuki Motor Corp.'s 2014 Alto minicar, which boasts a Japanese fuel economy rating of 77.6 mpg, is the world's most fuel-efficient gasoline-powered car, according to The Nikkei.
The 1,600-lb four-door reportedly will be powered by the current model's 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder engine that makes 68 hp and 66 lb-ft of torque.
The Alto will go on sale in Japan next month with a starting price of about $9,600. A variant of the four-seater is sold in other markets as the Suzuki A-Star or Suzuki Celerio.
