Subaru Corp. has received a U.S. trademark patent for the name Evoltis, which media reports speculate will adorn the carmaker’s first plug-in hybrid model when it’s launched later this year.

 The patent was first reported by Car and Driver, which notes that the upcoming hybrid will help Subaru meet California’s zero-emission-vehicle rules. The plug-in is expected to use technology from Toyota Motor Corp., which owns 16% of Subaru.
