The United Auto Workers union reached agreement late Friday on a local contract at Ford Motor Co.'s F-150 pickup truck plant in Kansas City, Mo., thus averting a possible strike there.
Local 249 had threatened to walk out on Sunday after complaining last week it was unable to reach agreement with the plant's management. The union did not indicate terms of the pact at the facility, which Automotive News says accounted for 19% of Ford's U.S. output in August.
The dispute was local and is not related to separate negotiations between the UAW and Ford on a new national contract. The most recent nationwide agreement between the two expired on Sept. 14.
